Kyushu National Museum, built in 2005, is located by Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. It is Japan's fourth national museum, following those in Tokyo, Nara, and Kyoto. This museum exhibits the formation of Japanese culture from the Paleolithic period to the late Edo period, under the concept of capturing the development of Japanese culture from an Asian historical perspective.
