Lake Kinrin (金鱗湖), situated at the foot of Mt. Yufu, is one of Yufuin's most famous tourist spots. In 1884, Confucian scholar Kusou Mouri named it "金鱗湖" after seeing the scales (鱗) of the fish in the lake glow gold (金) in the evening sun.

Around the lake, there is a walking path, where you can stroll while enjoying the sight of fish and waterfowl swimming. From autumn to early winter, you can also witness the enchanting sight of Kinrin Lake shrouded in morning mist.
